Fun downstairs bathroom ...

So here are some photos of the really fun downstairs bathroom. As you can see, the downstairs bathroom has predominantly a surfing and ocean theme to it.

Daddy's surfboard sits between the sink and the window. And, the towels have little surfboards on them, too.
Close-up of the valance above the window. It has an Elvis Blue Hawaii theme.

Daddy's Elvis Blue Hawaii album is above the sink.

Daddy's Blue Hawaii Elvis action figurine complete with a surfboard in its original box is displayed on the top shelf above the washer and dryer.

On the wall that separates the shower from the main part of the washer and dryer area, there is a fun tin wall hanging of a woody and surfboards.

Here is another photo that shows the shower and the washer and dryer.

Above is a photo of all the cute things displayed on the shelves Daddy built and hung above the washer and dryer.

Above is a close-up of Daddy's Hawaiian Tiki War God, "Ku." He sets on the right side of the top shelf and measures 13" tall.

A woody with a surfboard on the hood and a hula girl are on the right side of lower shelf.

A close-up of the 1941 Buick Woody with a surfboard on top of the hood.

The bottom shelf that hangs above the washer and dryer is full of things that are colorful and fun, as you can see.

Two fun pieces of wall art are displayed on the wall between the window and the shower.

Two surfing movie advertisements from 1963 and 1964 hang above the toilet.

View of the walls above the toilet is playful and fun.

A close-up of the fish net. The picture on the left is Mommy on the beach at Pt. Reyes in California. The middle print has two children running through the ocean shoreline and says, "It's a beautiful talent to know how to play!" The framed art on the right tells about "The Legend of the Sand Dollar." The fish net and sea rope originally hung in Mommy's first apartment after she graduated from college, and the wicker fish originally hung in Mommy's family's lake home.

The new washer and dryer Daddy recently bought is also located in the downstairs bathroom. The two shelves Daddy made hang above. More items will be added to the shelves. Once they are I'll have Mommy take another photo to add to my blog.

Meanwhile, some of the things on the shelves, in addition to the Blue Hawaii Elvis action doll, include: Mommy's fish collection she bought back at Pier One Imports in the late 1990s in Des Moines, and Daddy miniature 1967 VW bus and caravan. (See photos below.)

Daddy also recently installed a shelf at the bottom of the sink to make it more organized and finished looking. The photo below shows him in action.

Have a great week! ~ Robert

Fun at the auto show ...

So, yesterday Daddy worked at a car show in Pocahontas. Here are some photos of a few of the cool cars at the show. There were 91 car entries at the show.

Today Daddy continues to work on the shelves he is building for above the washer and dryer. It is a beautiful day temperature-wise here in Iowa today. A most perfect weekend day! ~ Robert

Headed back to California

Uncle Don, cousin Sam, and Daddy pose for a photo this morning.

So, Uncle Don and cousin, Sam, headed back to California this morning with the old pick-up truck that Sam is going to restore. Mommy took some photos before the pulled out of the driveway to begin their journey.

Don, Sam, and Daddy. You can see Sam's Chevy pick-up in the background.

In the above photos, above and the one below, you can see Uncle Don and cousin Sam standing in front of the old pick-up that Sam plans to restore once they get back to California.

It was fun to have them visit us. We wish they could have stayed a little bit longer, but understand that they have to get back. For one, Sam has to start school again soon at California State University, Chico where he goes.

I think after all the excitement of having company, I'm just gonna sit back and relax on the floor of the family room for awhile now before I get on with the rest of my day.

Have a great weekend!!! ~ Robert

Uncle Don and cousin Sam ...

Above is Sam in the old pick-up he just bought and plans to restore. Very cool!

So, we've had fun having Uncle Don and cousin Sam stay with us at our house this week. Sam found an old pick-up truck that he purchased and will haul it back to California with him when he and his father leave later this week. Here are some photos of the pick-up and other vehicles they looked at while here.

Above Uncle Don stands outside the pick-up talking to Sam who is inside.

Uncle Don and cousin Sam at the old farm where all these old vehicles are located. It's where to pick-up Sam bought was located.

Home, Home on the Range ... er, uh ... I mean, Piano!

Where Mommy's bison collection is displayed ...

Mommy and Daddy agreed Mommy's bison collection would look great on top of the piano since Uncle Don's bison hunt painting hangs above it.

By the way, this weekend the Albert City Threshermen & Collector's Show has been taking place. There are lots of old things to see there that are displayed on the site grounds.

Daddy went to it a couple times to check things out and see Grandma and Uncles Loren and Claire. Uncles Loren and Claire operate the flour mill out the the A.C. Threshermen's site. See photos of them in action below:
