Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday! I've been getting over feeling sick. I threw up five times on last Thursday and also had bathroom issues. So, Mommy and Daddy took me to the vet for a check-up. The doctor poked me in the arm with a huge evil needle to check my blood, and rule out a few medical possibilities. Turns out my blood work came back fine, as did the results of other testing done on me. I guess I just was under the weather with a virus or something. Mommy and Daddy continue to monitor me and make sure I am acting like I feel OK. The doctor also weighed me and it turns out that I lost two pounds during this sickness situation. My appetite seems a little better today, but I'm still not back to normal. Meanwhile, I've been taking a lot of naps since I don't have all my energy back to normal. Above you can see me napping on Daddy's lap this morning while he watch the early morning news on TV.

Later this morning Mommy tried to see if I felt up to playing with my toy Teenie Sardini. But, as you can see by these photos, I wasn't up to massive play time and had to take breaks. These photos show me resting my head on my arm propped up against the antique Humidor that is in the corner of the Family Room.

On the upside, Mommy and Daddy got some new everyday dishes to replace the worn out ones that they brought with them when we moved from California. I think the dishes are unique, interesting, and really cool looking. They have old-fashioned charm and character. Mommy and Daddy got them at an estate auction they attended in Rembrandt on Saturday. See photos of them below ...

The dishes includes a complete set of six. See one set in the photo above that Mommy has displayed on the kitchen table for this photo shoot she did for my blog.

The above photo is a close-up of what the dinner plates look like.

And above is a close-up of the coffee cup and saucer that goes with the dish set.

Have a lovely day. ~ Robert

Trouble on Woodhaven Farms ...

So my uncles, Loren and Claire, had some trouble on their grain farm ~ Wood Haven Grain Farms. One of their gravity boxes tipped over and dumped a load of corn onto the ground. The wagon is a loss as it broke but the grain was scooped up and salvaged. Luckily no one was hurt. See the photos above and below ...

Anyway, hope your day is going better than my Uncles' day went earlier. Have a good week! ~ Robert

Lounging after lunch ...

So, Mommy just fed me lunch and then I spent time lounging by the antique humidor in the family room. While I was doing that, Mommy snapped these photos of me. Hope you had a great weekend and you have a great week ahead! ~ Robert

Church pew added to bedroom ...

Mommy and Daddy picked up a darling little church pew that used to be in the Lutheran Church in Webb. Now it is in their bedroom. It used to be the pew that the minister would use to sit in when he was preaching a sermon and needed to let the choir sing or something. Anyway, see photos above and below of the new pew ...

Lounging in the formal living room ...

So, why Daddy was watching Larry King Live in the Family Room, Mommy snapped these photos of me lounging in the formal living room. This lovely little settee was a gift from Grandma to Mommy and Daddy for their 5th wedding anniversary, which was on August 9, 2008.

The shelf above the settee I am relaxing on was Daddy's Nana Lillian's shelf that he inherited. The man and woman figurines on the top shelf were made by Mommy's Aunt Arlys and are made of Plaster of Paris. And, the bell collection on the shelves was given to Mommy one bell at a time by her cousin Melissa. Mommy's mother (my grandma) and Melissa's mother were sisters. Melissa's mother, Jeanette, passed away a few years ago. Melissa is married, has three children, and currently lives in Kansas City, MO.

Well, I hope you have a super rest of the week. Mine has been going really well so far. I've had a pretty full schedule, which included some pleasurable naps, massive play time with my Teenie Sardine toy fish, daily grooming exercises, bird watching from the formal living room window, several wonderful meals, and some necessary potty breaks. So, I've had a pretty busy schedule, but my week is off to a great start! Take care! ~ Robert

Bits 'n Pieces of the Kitchen ...

Here are some photos Mommy took around the kitchen of the home I share with her and Daddy.

Before Mommy quit taking photos in the kitchen, she snapped a couple of cute ones of Daddy holding me in the kitchen ...

I hope you have a terrific weekend! It's suppose to be lovely weather here with lots of sun and mild temperatures. Take care ~ Robert

It's beginning to look like fall around here ...

Another beautiful day in the Heartland again. The fall foliage will soon be at it's peak. The nights are cool but the days are warm.

Neighbor houses shown in above photos.

The farmers are busy getting their crops in. Soon it will be winter snow all around and the leaves on the trees will be gone. All for now. Until next time ... Robert

Daddy got the arbor all done!

Hooray! Daddy got the arbor in our backyard all done. He made it and then installed it. Mommy thinks it is beautiful! Once the spring comes, it will get landscaped around it and the cement that secures the arbor into the ground will no longer show.

Meanwhile, Mommy is nursing me to health since I have ear infection again. She has to clean my ears and put ear drops in them twice a day. Since I am little under the weather, I took a nap on her lap ...

And, Daddy went out to the attached garage and continued working on the walls he is putting up in the garden shed that is out near the arbor he just installed.

Have a delightful day! ~ Robert

It's official, I have endorsed Obama for President!

Well, it's official. I have joined the ranks of a growing number of felines who support Obama for President! You can see me on the official Cats for Obama Web site at the link: www.catsforobama.com Web site. You have to scroll down a little and then you will see me in along with the caption: Robert William Claire, a 7-year-old Manx, has endorsed Obama for President. I was still 7 when I officially endorsed him. I just turned 8 this summer so the caption is a little bit outdated.

We all know about the polar bears, of course, but most people don't realize how many other large mammals are in danger as well ... Sumatran orangutans, red colobus monkeys, Conservative Republicans ... a lot of marginal species whose populations have been steadily shrinking due to habitat loss, declining populations, and out of date thinking in general are all at risk. The fear (or hope) is that by the middle of an Obama presidency this last group might disappear completely.

Anyway, be sure to check out the site and you'll see several other politically savvy kitties who share my political views ...

Happy Friday ...

Above you can see me on Daddy's lap in the family room as he lectures me for my questionable behavior that I got into earlier today.

Truly, I finally decided the best thing in this situation was to act as if nothing truly happened. A cooling off period was definintely necessary. So, I proceeded to play with my Teenie Sardini, as shown in the photos above and below ...

My Teenie Sardini is my favorite toy. I play with him several times a day. Mommy got him for me back when we lived in Napa, and I was lucky that I could bring him with me when we moved to our new home here in Iowa.

Have a great weekend, and be good!!! ~ Robert

Food, food, glorious food ...

So, last night ~ as per usual this time of year ~ Daddy grilled in the backside patio.
